Today marks a very important news day. Sure there’s a new Greek Prime Minister, and yeah, yeah they found the guy who shot at the White House – but that’s not really relevant. No. Today it was revealed that Bradley Cooper is “People Magazine’s SEXIEST MAN ALIVE 2011!”
I have to say, from a PR standpoint, this is one EASY sell. He’s a Georgetown grad, a great cook, rides a motorcycle and is fluent in French. Plus – have you seen those eyes? But, in a competitive pool of sexy men (Ryan Gosling, Idris Elba, Michael Fassbender, etc, etc) his PR team did have to put some work into their pitch.
If I were working to land Bradley that coveted cover, I’d definitely highlight those intangible factors that make this leading man undeniably “sexy.” There’s the “approachability” factor. Bradley just seems like a nice guy. He’s the guy who would bring his mother to an award show, or be happy to give autographs and pose for pictures with fans.
In an interview for “Ask Men,” B.Coop (we’re tight like that) revealed that casting directors would say, “You know, he’s such a nice guy, Bradley. I don’t see an edge, but such a sweet guy.” Combine that with his rugged scruff and million-dollar smile (thanks Dr. Dorfman) and you got yourself your “People” cover.
Bradley also has something that I find severely lacking in most young stars — “humility.” Bradley didn’t get famous overnight – in fact he probably didn’t have his first breakout role until 2005’s “Wedding Crashers.” He’s also surprisingly humble about his looks, revealing “I think it’s really cool that a guy who doesn’t look like a model can have this [title]. I think I’m a decent looking guy. Sometimes I can look great, and other times I look horrifying.” Hard to believe, B.
